Readers Advisory

I explored recent bibliotherapy titles and found 1001 Books for Every Mood by Hallie Ephron better than The Novel Cure by Ella Berthoud and Susan Elderkin for book recommendations. Ephron includes a grading star system for literary merit that is incredibly important if you require intelligent writing along with your entertainment. She also has a handy system of using icons that allows the reader to see at a glance which categories the book covers: provocative, influential, inspirational, humorous, brainy, easy reading, page turner, challenging, bathroom book, or family friendly. There is even an icon for indicating if the book has been made into a movie. Additionally, The Novel Cure lacks the wide range of ailments and bibliotherapeutic suggestions for remedies found in 1001 Books.
